John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs that he wrote, many of which were set in Colorado. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, he was in love with Colorado and eventually settled in Aspen. Many people beat a path to Colorado due to Denver's famous tunes for the state he was raised in. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame declares that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was a member of the Hall of Fame as its first member in 2011. He has become the personification of Colorado for many people across the globe. When you encounter people from other countries, like New Zealanders, and they say "I come Colorado" and they say "I am from Colorado" and they immediately reply with Oh John Denver. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was Denver's first Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time in small Folk Music Groups. The track was written by Bill Danoff. Danoff composed the song in the name of Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the song's potential after hearing it first. After performing the song at Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days afterward.
